RENO, Nev. (AP) - Former Nevada linebacker Josh Mauga (MAH’-guh) has signed a one-year contract with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The 27-year-old Fallon native who was an all-state selection at Churchill County High School originally signed with the New York Jets in 2009 after going undrafted out of Nevada.

The 6-foot-1, 245-pound inside linebacker has recorded 44 tackles and an interception in 29 NFL games over four seasons. He sat out last year as an injured reserve with a back injury.

Former Nevada linebacker James-Michael Johnson also is on the Kansas City roster. Both played for former Wolf Pack Coach Chris Ault, who now is a Chiefs consultant.
