NEWINGTON, Conn. (AP) - Newington’s former facilities manager has been charged with stealing from the town.

Police say they arrested 60-year-old Robert Korpak on Wednesday. He is accused of stealing town materials during his time on the job and soliciting a kickback from a town contractor.

Korpak resigned from his job maintaining town-owned buildings after being placed on administrative leave in May.

He is charged with second-degree larceny, attempted larceny and receiving kickbacks.

He was released after posting a $5,000 bond and is due in court on Aug. 6.

He did not immediately return a telephone message Thursday seeking comment.
