DANBURY, Conn. (AP) - Danbury officials say a man escaped serious injury when his small plane went into a swamp after missing the runway at Danbury airport in Connecticut.

Danbury Fire Department spokesman Steven Rogers tells the Danbury News-Times the plane crashed near Foley’s Pump Station on Miry Brooke Road.

The pilot was the only person aboard.

Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton tweeted a picture of the plane resting upright in shallow water. The mayor said in a tweet the pilot appeared to be all right.

Danbury fire and emergency medical services responded, along with a boat, at around 7:15 Thursday evening.
