MONROE, La. (AP) - The president and chief executive of Monroe’s St. Francis Medical Center since 2008 is retiring effective Aug. 1

The News-Star reports (https://tnsne.ws/WFSGfU) Louis Bremer has enjoyed a 41-year career in the industry.

St. Francis, which is part of the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System, has operated in Monroe for more than a century.

Stewart Gentry, volunteer chairman of St. Francis’ board, said an interim CEO will be appointed in the coming weeks.

St. Francis is the largest hospital in northeastern Louisiana and the market’s No. 2 largest private employer
