NEWPORT, Tenn. (AP) - An eastern Tennessee man making a routine court appearance found himself charged with killing a neighbor a decade ago.

WBIR-TV in Knoxville reported (https://on.wbir.com/1kXUdU0 ) that Cocke County deputies arrested 60-year-old Boyd James on Wednesday. James has been charged with the May 25, 2004 shooting death of Randy Grooms in Hartford.

Grooms was found shot to death on May 25, 2004, at a home on Big Creek Road in Hartford.

James was also charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and violation of the sex offender registry.

James is being held in the Cocke County Jail without bond. Court records do not list an attorney for James.
