FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - University of Arkansas men’s track and field assistant coach Travis Geopfert will be the head coach of Team USA at the Thorpe Cup.

The combined event between the United States and Germany will be Saturday and Sunday in Marburg, Germany. The Thorpe Cup is an international competition between the U.S. and Germany in which teams of up to seven men and seven women compete in the decathlon and heptathlon.

This will be the sixth time Geopfert has represented the U.S. at the Thorpe Cup. He served as an assistant coach in 2009 and 2013 and competed in the event in 2003, 2005 and 2006.

Geopfert has been at Arkansas for five seasons and is a two-time National Assistant Coach of the Year.
