CAMP VERDE, Ariz. (AP) - The U.S. Marshals Service is joining the manhunt for an inmate who escaped from a central Arizona jail.

U.S. Marshal David Gonzales of the Arizona District said Thursday that federal agents will work with local officials to locate Wade Cole Dickinson.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office says the 28-year-old Dickinson fled on foot from the Camp Verde Detention Center earlier this month. Officials say Dickinson scaled a wall in the jail’s recreation yard and separated overhead security fencing to access the roof and climb down to the ground level.

Authorities say he was awaiting a transfer to a state prison.

Dickinson recently was sentenced to nearly 25 years in prison for fraud, drugs and possession of a firearm.
