CORINTH, Miss. (AP) - Alcorn County’s employee health insurance premium costs will drop 15 percent in the next fiscal year.

Blue Cross Blue Shield official say the contract that begins Aug. 1 will have a monthly rate per employee that is about $89 lower than the current premium.

Insurance broker Sammy Smith told the board of supervisors of the changes this week.

Smith says reduction is largely due to the county not having any extraordinary claims during the previous plan year, Smith said.

Rates effective Aug. 1, will be $1,160 per month for employee and spouse, down from $1,365; and $1,488 for employee and family, down from $1,750.
