FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - Motorists traveling on Interstate 40 in western Arizona are being advised to expect delays due to paving and rock-removal projects between Kingman and Flagstaff.

The state Department of Transportation says the I-40 needs preventative maintenance due to heavy traffic and weather conditions.

One project recently began on a 15-mile stretch of I-40 west of the junction with U.S. 93. That’s east of Kingman.

ADOT is completing another resurfacing project to the east, between Ask Force and Williams.

Also, crews in early August will begin rock work along the westbound lanes of I-40 just west of Parks. That work will result in intermittent closures Monday through Friday from a 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.
