CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) - A $2.1 million grant is headed to a long-term theological research program at the University of Virginia.

Called “The Project of Lived Theology,” the program explores the relation between Christian spiritual beliefs and social practices.

The grant is from the Lilly Endowment. It extends the project for five more years, from 2015 through 2019.

Four previous Lilly grants have funded the project since its creation in 2000.

The project brings together theologians, students and religious scholars in partnership with practitioners.
