LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - A Keeneland official says the race track doesn’t want construction under way when next year’s Breeders’ Cup is held there and is putting off plans to build a facility for instant racing.

The Lexington Herald-Leader (https://bit.ly/1xdsHaB ) says Lexington’s Board of Adjustment on Friday granted a 60-day postponement of the track’s application for a special permit to build the facility.

Keeneland Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Vince Gabbert says starting instant racing at the track next July is no longer realistic.

The Breeders’ Cup is scheduled for Oct. 30 and 31, 2015. It is expected to draw up to 50,000 to the track, which has never hosted the event.

Instant racing allows wagering on historical horse races on terminals similar to slot machines.
