SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. (AP) - Police say a man who was shot at an apartment complex north of Atlanta has died.

Sandy Springs police Capt. Steve Rose tells the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (https://on-ajc.com/1pj4vPB ) that the 20-year-old man was shot multiple times Thursday afternoon.

Police believe he was shot at an apartment complex used as college student housing and wound up in the parking lot of a nearby Sheraton hotel.

The man was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, where he died. Police were notifying his next of kin Thursday and had not yet released his name.

No one was in custody. Rose said detectives had several promising leads, which they were following up late Thursday.

The area is about 15 miles north of downtown Atlanta.
