MCHENRY, Ill. (AP) - A 62-year-old McHenry man has been charged with murder in the slaying of a woman whose skeletal remains were found in his home.

William J. Ross initially was charged with concealing a homicide after a maintenance worker in November found skeletal remains inside a plastic bag in a sealed bedroom in his home. The victim was identified as 49-year-old Jacqueline Schaefer. Ross had previously faced two domestic battery charges from incidents involving the woman.

The (Crystal Lake) Northwest Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1rDAYow ) the sheriff’s office and the Illinois State Police Crime Lab found additional evidence and charged Ross with murder this week.

Ross was taken into custody Thursday. He’s being held in the McHenry County Jail on a $5 million bond. It was not immediately clear if he has an attorney.
