MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) - Medford police investigating a string of arsons have arrested a homeless woman.

Police Lt. Mike Budreau said in a news release that officers at the scene of two fires in Hawthorne Park saw 57-year-old Debra Johns discarding tissue paper from her pockets. He said forensic evidence linked her to a Wednesday fire.

The arson spree includes 22 suspicious fires in the past month. It started with warehouse fire that heavily damaged a historic fruit-packing plant. Most of the blazes have been put out before doing much damage.

Budreau says investigators believe one arsonist is responsible for most, if not all, of the fires. He says Johns is a suspect in numerous fires.

She was booked into jail on charges of arson, reckless burning and attempted burglary.
