MONROE, Mich. (AP) - Authorities in the southeastern Michigan city of Monroe are investigating a church fire that burned part of an altar.

The Monroe News reports (https://bit.ly/1jZtlrr ) Thursday that volunteers from St. Michael Catholic Church contacted police after discovering the damage. Police say they believe linens were intentionally set on fire and burned along with part of the oak altar.

Investigators found no other damage or forced entry.
