TOP ISSUE AND PLAN TO ADDRESS IT: As a former doctor and small business owner as well as a lifelong resident of Northern Michigan, my campaign will continue to focus on making sure we work towards ensuring our children and grandchildren have the opportunity to thrive by strengthening the economy and increasing job creation, developing an affordable patient-centered health care system, and meeting our commitment to our veterans. I’m a doctor and in the operating room we had to work together - our patient’s life counted on it. Bureaucrats and politicians in Washington don’t act the same way. They are pushing regulations that are hurting our families, businesses and way of life. We need to concentrate on initiatives that will help future generations, such as increasing vocational education. I have heard from both educators and small business owners and they’ve told me that with the right skills, there are jobs, which is why we have worked with communities across Northern Michigan to increase these programs ensuring brighter futures for our children. We have a lot of work yet to do to turn things around in this country, but I’m committed to doing it. I think you’ll agree that the opportunity for the American Dream is worth fighting for.

TOP ISSUE AND PLAN TO ADDRESS IT: I am running because I believe Michigan’s 1st District deserves a congressman who represents his constituents and votes based on their needs and values, not just on party lines. I am a veteran and a small business owner, two things we could use more of in Washington. On the campaign trail I am constantly meeting people who are asking the same questions: Where are the jobs? How are we addressing immigration? Why aren’t we doing more for our veterans? Instead of working towards solutions, Washington is spending our tax dollars arguing with one another. According to a recent Rasmussen poll, 72 percent of Americans think their current representatives should be replaced. Why are our elected officials incapable of fixing our problems? The recent scandal at our VA hospitals has happened right under Dr. Dan Benishek’s nose, as he has served on the VA Oversight Committee for the last 3 1/2 years. He has failed our veterans. I’m running to offer Michigan a true conservative leader and will use the Constitution as my guide. I served our country in the Air Force and now I am asking Michigan voters for the honor of serving them in Congress.
