LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - State police say Interstate 65 northeast of Lafayette is open in both directions after being closed for hours after a semi pulling a tanker filled with highly ignitable cargo overturned.

State police Sgt. Kim Riley says the southbound lanes opened about 2:45 p.m. Thursday, about 45 minutes after the northbound lanes opened. They interstate had been closed since the accident occurred about 7 a.m. Thursday.

Riley says the tanker was filled with about 3,000 gallons of heptane, which he described as a highly flammable liquid used as a gasoline additive.

Riley says neither the driver of the semi nor a passenger was injured.
