PHOENIX (AP) - Police are investigating the killings of a married couple in their north Phoenix home.

Officers reported finding the bodies of 81-year-old William Singer and 64-year-old Barbara Singer on Wednesday afternoon.

Police spokesman Sgt. Steve Martos said Thursday that detectives determined trauma and evidence at the scene indicates the deaths are a double homicide.

Martos says officers went to the house to check on the couple’s welfare after a caretaker got no answer at the door. The home is in a neighborhood near Central Avenue and Bell Road

Police say the couple reportedly was last seen about a week ago.

They say Singer and his wife had been married for more than 30 years, but didn’t have any children together.
