SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - Gov. Pat Quinn has released salary information for two new high ranking officials after the head of the Illinois Department of Transportation resigned this week.

Former Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs Director Erica Borggren was appointed as transportation secretary on Monday. Her salary is $150,228. Rodrigo Garcia will now serve as director of the Department of Veterans Affairs. His salary is $115,613.

Transportation Secretary Ann Schneider announced her resignation Monday. Quinn has declined to discuss in detail the circumstances of Schneider leaving.

IDOT’s hiring practices have come under recent scrutiny. Chicago anti-patronage campaigner Michael Shakman wants a federal judge to order an investigation into those activities.

The issue arose as Quinn, a Chicago Democrat, faces a difficult re-election bid against Winnetka Republican Bruce Rauner (ROW’-nur).
