GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - An inmate at the Pearl River County jail has pleaded guilty to making threats against President Barack Obama.

Federal court records show that Bobby Lamar Boone, 42, admitted mailing a letter to the FBI in which he threatened the president, according to The Sun-Herald (https://bit.ly/1lFjLnT).

The letter was postmarked May 29. Its return address was that of the Pearl River County Courthouse.

According to a criminal complaint, the Secret Service was notified and the letter was linked to Boone.

The letter said: “BOOM BOOM Dear Mr. President Obama, good bye,,, It will be over for you very soon thanks to me . don’t you wish you knew who I was! You will soon enough.”

Boone was being held at the time on a charge of taking a motor vehicle.

According to the complaint, Boone told investigators he “hates the military and my brother was hurt in Afghanistan. I don’t care what I’m in jail for, I’ve been in jail all my life. I used to go to banks and tell people I’d kill people.”

The letter included a picture of the president’s limousine and contained phrases referring to Obama as a Muslim and a black racist.

Boone allegedly told authorities he also had written a letter making a bomb threat against the federal courthouse in Biloxi. The federal courthouse on the Coast has been in Gulfport for several years.

That letter had not been mailed, and was found at the Pearl River County jail.

Court documents show Boone was convicted of a bank robbery in federal court in Portland, Ore., in 1999, had been sent back to prison on a probation violation, and had lived with his grandmother in Lumberton from March 2013 until June 2013.
