DYERSBURG, Tenn. (AP) - A Tennessee man has been charged with first-degree murder after police say he stabbed his wife to death.

The State-Gazette (https://bit.ly/1mR5ipc) reported that Dyersburg police arrested 48-year-old Willie T. Harris on Thursday morning after a standoff at his home.

Police responded to the house after getting a call of a possible hostage situation. After diffusing the standoff, police say they found the body of 55-year-old Joycelyn Harris inside the home.

Police say officers rescued a child from a second floor window during the standoff. Harris surrendered voluntarily a short time later.

Police say the investigation is continuing.

Jail records did not list an attorney for Harris.
