FAIRFIELD, Ala. (AP) - A 15-year-old boy was shot in the foot early Friday as he waited to buy the new Air Jordan Retro sneakers outside a Fairfield mall.

AL.com reports (https://bit.ly/1s93RaK ) that the boy was taken to Children’s Hospital while police took two others into custody for questioning. The victim’s identity was not released.

Fairfield Police Chief Leon Davis said the victim was one of about 50 people spending the night outside Western Hills Mall awaiting release a new design from Michael Jordan’s shoe line. They retail for $170.

Davis said witnesses gave police conflicting stories of what happened.

Police shut down the pending sale. The police chief said the highly marketed events are dangerous because they draw large numbers of teens overnight with large amounts of cash.
