SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - Investigators in San Jose arrested a teenage boy accused of sexual assaulting an 85-year-old woman during a home-invasion robbery earlier this week.

The arrest Friday was the second stemming from the assault inside an elderly couple’s home early Tuesday, Albert Morales of the San Jose Police Department told the San Jose Mercury News (https://bit.ly/1zgiuxW ).

The teens - ages 15 and 16 - broke into the home, waking up the couple, Morales said. One or both of the boys assaulted the woman, leaving her husband unharmed, police said.

The boys stole the couple’s Chevrolet Equinox SUV and led California Highway Patrol officers on a highway chase reaching speeds of 100 mph, Morales said. The chase ended at an off-ramp when the SUV crashed into the garage of a vacant home, police said.

The 16-year-old boy ran from the crash scene, evading arrest for several days, Morales said.

The 15-year-old boy was pinned in the crash and arrested. Investigators learned of the second boy’s identity, arresting him Friday.

The names of the boys were not released because they are juveniles. The woman was treated at a hospital following the assault and expected to survive, police said.
