ST. LOUIS (AP) - St. Louis County investigators are looking into the death of a motorist who was killed after leading police on a high speed chase and struggling with an officer.

KMOV-TV (https://bit.ly/1mjdpPu ) reports Pine Lawn officers pulled a vehicle over for a wanted person alert early Saturday morning near Interstate 70 and Jennings Station Road. During the traffic stop, the suspect drove off with police in pursuit.

A Pine Lawn police spokesman says the suspect was clocked driving 90 in a 55 mph zone during the pursuit. The chase ended when the man crashed the rental car, which he had failed to return, at Interstate 170 and Interstate 70.

The man ran from the scene but was caught by a Pine Lawn officer. The suspect was shot and killed during the struggle.
