LAKE LUZERNE, N.Y. (AP) - A popular river rafting company in New York’s Adirondack Mountains has suspended operations indefinitely after a 15-year-old river guide died when a company bus overturned.

The Glens Falls Post-Star (https://bit.ly/1ziEeZP ) reports authorities identified the victim of Saturday’s crash as Tubby Tubes Rafting Company employee Hunter Scofield.

The principal of Scofield’s high school described him as a “kind, thoughtful and intelligent young man.”

Beecher Baker says the boy’s death leaves the school community with great sorrow.

Scofield was one of 34 people aboard the modified school bus for a Hudson River excursion Saturday.

State police say he was thrown from the bus and died at the scene in Lake Luzerne.

Tubby Tubes issued a statement expressing condolences to Scofield’s family.

The company says it will stay closed while the investigation continues.
