INWOOD, N.Y. (AP) - Police on Long Island are looking for a group of teenagers they say struck a man in the head as he walked home.

The 36-year-old victim was attacked from behind at the corner of Brunswick Avenue and Doughty Boulevard at 11:55 p.m. Saturday.

Police say the assailants struck him in the head and back with an unknown object until he fell to the ground. The teens then allegedly stole the man’s cellphone and wallet before fleeing.

They say the suspects are between 15 and 18 years of age.

The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of head and ankle injuries.

Police ask anyone with information about the attack to call 1-800-244-TIPS.
