POLAND, Maine (AP) - Authorities say a 29-year-old man who stabbed his uncle in the uncle’s home in the town of Poland has been arrested.

The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department says 49-year-old Steven Narbonne was arguing with his nephew Phillip Audet early Sunday when he was stabbed twice with a butcher knife.

Sheriff’s officials say Narbonne went to a neighbor’s house but couldn’t awaken anyone. A member of the neighbor’s family came home around 1:30 a.m., found Narbonne collapsed and called 911.

Narbonne underwent emergency surgery at Central Maine Medical Center and is recovering at the hospital.

Sheriff’s officials say Audet fled Narbonne’s home in his uncle’s car after the stabbing. Police later found Audet in Portland and arrested him.

Audet is charged with elevated aggravated assault. He is being held at the Androscoggin County Jail awaiting a court appearance.
