NEW YORK (AP) - Automated parking-fee kiosks have been installed at Jones Beach.

The five kiosks were installed at the state park last week.

Newsday (https://nwsdy.li/1ossyN4 ) says they will allow driver going west on Ocean Parkway to pay for parking without having to loop around to the toll plaza where traffic can back up for miles.

The solar-powered machines are part of a pilot program at Jones Beach and three other state-run Long Island parks.

Jones Beach has one each at the east and west boathouses and three at parking field 10.

Hither Hills State Park in Montauk and Caleb Smith State Park in Smithtown will have one kiosk each by the end of July. Bayard Cutting Arboretum in Great River is getting three.

The machines accept credit and debit cards and exact change.
