PITTSBURGH (AP) - A body has been reported near the 40th Street Bridge in Pittsburgh, which is down river from where an elderly man was swept away by fast-moving currents in the Allegheny River.

Authorities have yet to release the name of that man who was seen going under the water about 3:50 p.m. Friday near the Fox Chapel Yacht Club. The 74-year-old man was wading in chest-deep water when he appeared to lose his footing and was swept away.

Emergency crews responded to two reports of a body floating in the river Sunday, but both turned out to be debris.

Monday’s report about the body near the bridge came in about 6:15 a.m.

Authorities have yet to say whether it was a body and, if so, whether it is that of the missing man.
