LEBANON, N.H. (AP) - Work is starting on a nearly $9 million bridge reconstruction project in Lebanon, New Hampshire.

Tree clearing was scheduled to start Monday along Route 4 in preparation for work on the span crossing the Mascoma River at the intersection of Routes 4 and 4A.

Traffic will remain on the existing bridge while a new bridge is built adjacent to it. The nearby New Hampshire Rail Trail will remain open throughout construction most days.

The state Department of Transportation says the new bridge will be opened by late fall 2015, and the existing bridge will be removed.
