PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The U.S. Senate has confirmed President Barack Obama’s nominee to the Philadelphia-based 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Attorney Cheryl Ann Krause was confirmed on Monday.

Krause, a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Stanford Law School, clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony M. Kennedy from 1994-95.

She went on to become a partner at Dechert LLP, specializing in white-collar criminal defense and government investigations. She started the Philadelphia Project, a legal collaboration to improve education for children with disabilities.

She’s also served as outside counsel for the city’s Board of Ethics and as a board member of the Committee of Seventy, a good-government group.
