MINEOLA, N.Y. (AP) - A suburban New York man convicted of stabbing a man 86 times during a fight has been sentenced to up to life in prison.

Nassau County prosecutors say 26-year-old Henry Martinez-Ramos of Freeport was sentenced Monday. He must serve at least 25 years in prison on the murder conviction.

Martinez-Ramos also was convicted of tampering with evidence and weapon possession.

The victim, 21-year-old Ermis Alonzo of Freeport, was stabbed in 2012.

Prosecutors say the two men knew each other and had a history of insults and arguments.
