LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Nebraska authorities say nearly 200 drivers were cited over the July Fourth holiday weekend for speeding.

The Nebraska State Patrol says 192 speeding citations were issued during a special enforcement effort that took place between Thursday and Saturday.

In addition to the speeding citations, 12 drivers were arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Other citations included driving under suspension and having an open container.

Additional troopers were on patrol during the weekend thanks to a nearly $19,000 grant from the state Office of Highway Safety.
