TIFIFN, Ohio (AP) - A power outage that knocked out electricity across much of one northern Ohio city is being blamed on a bird’s nest fire.

City officials in the northern Ohio town of Tiffin say power was restored around noon on Monday after the fire at an electricity substation.

The outage affecting traffic lights, homes and businesses in Tiffin lasted for a couple hours before crews made repairs to the substation.

Officials say the bird’s nest fire burned through a cable and set off a safety switch that shut down the power to more than 4,000 customers in Seneca County.

Tiffin is about 40 miles southeast of Toledo.
