PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - South Dakota School of Mines & Technology President Heather Wilson has formally filled a new position created by the Legislature on the state Science and Technology Authority Board.

The panel works with national labs, the Department of Energy and the National Science Foundation to promote scientific and technological investigations, experimentation and development in the state.

Gov. Dennis Daugaard made the recommendation to create an ex-officio position on the board for the School of Mines president and the bill passed unanimously.
