SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Contractors will begin boarding up the empty windows of an abandoned downtown Syracuse building where a pane suddenly fell to the ground.

The Post-Standard reports (bit.ly/1lPm7k7) the pane fell from the third-story window of a former department store and shattered on the sidewalk. No one was injured. It happened around 1:40 p.m. Monday.

The building, which was taken over in March by the Greater Syracuse Land Bank, has about nine windows on the front that have no glass.

Land bank executive director Katelyn Wright says all the empty windows will be boarded up on Tuesday and contractors will stabilize the area around the window that fell out.
