LINDEN, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a man drove off in a woman’s car while she and her mother dropped off used clothing at a charity collection bin in northern New Jersey.

Linden police tell mycentraljersey.com (https://mycj.co/1qbXgei) that the theft occurred around 12:20 p.m. Friday at a shopping center in the Union County community.

The two women had left the car running while they unloaded bags of clothes from the trunk. The man got in the car and drove off, then stopped briefly to close the trunk before leaving the area.

The younger woman reported that her purse and cell phone were in the vehicle.

The car had not been recovered as of Monday, and the suspect also remained at large.
