MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia University will host a 24-hour robotics competition for high school students in August.

First Robotics Competition’s WV-ROX event will be held Aug. 1 and Aug. 2. It’s sponsored by WVU and Mountaineer Area RoboticS 2614, also known as MARS.

MARS says the event will be First Robotics Competition’s first 24-hour challenge. It’s also the first regional competition to be held in West Virginia.

Teams of students will build and program a robot to perform a series of prescribed tasks. They will be guided by volunteer professional mentors.
