PITTSFIELD, Ill. (AP) - A 3-year-old girl was found in a dense western Illinois cornfield after an hours-long search that involved airplanes and drones.

The Quincy Herald-Whig reports (https://bit.ly/1r5M4S1 ) that search teams found Jayden Coffey around midnight on Tuesday. She was taken to Illini Community Hospital in Pittsfield for evaluation.

The girl’s parents called 911 after she walked from her family’s yard into a large neighboring cornfield about three miles west of Pittsfield.

The six-hour search also included canine units and volunteers from four counties. Illinois State Police used a thermal imaging airplane to find heat signals on the ground.

Pike County Emergency Director David Greenwood called the outcome “gratifying” and the response to the missing girl “amazing.”
