ABERDEEN, Miss. (AP) - Aberdeen’s police chief could be charged with verbal simple assault following a dispute with the city’s building inspector.

Chief Henry Randle and inspector David Low went before Lee County Circuit Judge Thomas Gardner Monday to determine if Randle should be charged.

WTVA-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1zlb24v ) the two are scheduled back in court later to present witnesses.

Low alleges he and Randle confronted each other in June at an Aberdeen skating rink. Low says the chief “threatened to knock my teeth out.”

He says the confrontation stemmed from his attempt to close the rink for code violations after an inspection.

Randle denies threatening Low and says the inspector closed the rink without due process.

The chief says he was at the rink because of complaints from neighbors of loud music and profanity.
