KENNER, La. (AP) - Kenner police are investigating a domestic-related homicide.

Police say Tuesday morning’s shooting involved a husband and wife who were separated.

Sgt. Brian McGregor says children in the home called 911 around 2:30 a.m. to report gunshots. McGregor says officers arrived to find 38-year-old Lyndell Desilva with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a New Orleans hospital where he died.

Police say Desilva hit his wife with a gun and racked the slide of his weapon before she shot him with another gun.

McGregor says the wife lived in the home with her four children, ranging in age from 4 to 14.

Police say the case is being sent to the Jefferson Parish District Attorney’s Office for review.
