ROCK, W.Va. (AP) - A road in the Rock area of Mercer County is closed after several sections of a bridge spanning the Bluestone River collapsed.

Residents living along Kale Road will have to take an alternate route to leave their community.

Resident Charles Gibson tells the Bluefield Daily Telegraph (https://bit.ly/1k1VngGV ) that bridge partially collapsed Monday morning after a truck attempted to cross it.

Division of Highways workers put up “road closed” signs Monday afternoon.

Gibson says more than a dozen homes are along the road.
