SEATTLE (AP) - A man who was hit in the eye by a mortar during Fourth of July fireworks near Port Angeles has been upgraded from critical to serious condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

The Peninsula Daily News reports (https://bit.ly/1k1V3i6) 20-year-old Justin Holland of the Seattle area remains in intensive care.

In another fireworks accident, doctors were unable to save the little finger of a 12-year-old Marysville boy who had a Roman candle explode in his hand at a party in Granite Falls.

His father told KOMO (https://bit.ly/1lQy0X2) doctors at Harborview Medical Center were able to save most of his son’s left hand. He faces months of physical therapy.
