UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. (AP) - The University City School Board will hold a work session to reconsider turning away transfer students from the unaccredited Normandy School District.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (https://bit.ly/1k1SLiQ ) reports that more than 70 residents, parents and teachers voiced mixed emotions Monday on whether Normandy students should be allowed back.

The board voted on June 26 to send transfer students back to Normandy, now under state control. The University City district became the second in the region to do so, following Francis Howell. Other districts have followed suit in the weeks since.

Some people told the University City board Monday that keeping the transfer students would ruin University City’s accreditation. Others said turning them away defies the city’s history of inclusion.

No date has been set for the work session.
