HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. (AP) - A Republican congressman from central Pennsylvania and his wife say they’re separating after 27 years of marriage.

U.S. Rep. Bill Shuster and wife Rebecca released a statement last week that said it was a difficult decision but they reached it amicably.

The 53-year-old Shuster has been in Congress since 2001. He currently chairs the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.

The statement says the Hollidaysburg residents don’t plan to comment further on their separation. They have two children.
