CROWLEY, Texas (AP) - The mother of a 12-year-old North Texas girl who died after falling off the trunk of a moving car following a swimming outing has been arrested.

Crowley police said Monday that 32-year-old Yasmin Lewis faces a charge of reckless injury to a child causing seriously bodily injury in Octavia Watkins’ death. Police say Lewis was booked into jail and released on bond. Her phone number couldn’t be located.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram (https://bit.ly/1k1NU1h ) reports Lewis was a passenger in a car driven by Kisha Young as they left a community pool June 17. Police say six children were on the trunk and hood because of wet swimming suits. Octavia and three other children fell off the trunk. Octavia died June 25.

Young was charged with drunken driving and other offenses.
