ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. (AP) - Work has started on a 16-mile section of the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail between St. Johnsbury and West Danville in Vermont.

The Caledonian Record reports (https://bit.ly/1muSRDP) brush cutting and clearing is getting underway this week. The trail is being constructed by the Vermont Association of Snow Travelers.

The contractor has until September 2015 to complete the work, but it may be done this year. The work is weather dependent.

The entire rail trail will stretch more than 90 miles from St. Johnsbury to Swanton. It is open to snowmobilers, walkers, bicyclists, horseback riders and dog sledders.
