TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A diabetic migrant traveling through the southern Arizona desert after illegally crossing the border has been rescued by the U.S. Border Patrol.

Tucson sector agents collaborated with the crew of a Customs and Border Protection helicopter to fly into Blacktail Canyon near Sierra Vista and airlift the man to safety last Saturday.

Border Patrol officials say the man got lost in the Huachuca (wah-CHOO’-kuh) Mountains and called 911 for help after becoming distressed.

The man was taken to Sierra Vista Regional Health Center for treatment.

His name and hometown haven’t been released. Border Patrol officials didn’t immediately release any other information on the case Tuesday.
