TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Eight city attorneys in the Tulsa area have issued a statement asking the Tulsa County Criminal Justice Authority to delay consideration of a proposal by Tulsa County Sheriff Stanley Glanz to charge municipalities for inmates held in the jail before charges are filed.

Glanz has sent a letter to area law enforcement agencies saying that as of July 1 he would not accept municipal inmates into the jail unless charges have been filed or the municipalities agree to pay for them.

The statement from the attorneys says Glanz has no authority to define a municipal inmate nor to set rates.

The Tulsa World reports (https://bit.ly/1n6DcZ0 ) that Glanz’s proposal is scheduled to be considered Thursday by the Criminal Justice Authority.
