MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) - Cobb County prosecutors say a former county worker has pleaded guilty to stealing proceeds from drug court operations.

Officials said Wednesday that 57-year-old Tomasita Reavis of Marietta used to work as a clerk in the county’s drug testing lab. Officials say court defendants who were ordered to take drug tests at the lab typically paid fees of about $25 for the tests.

Prosecutors say her supervisors became suspicious when money was missing and authorities installed surveillance equipment which recorded her taking money from the drawer and putting it into her purse.

Reavis pleaded guilty to six counts of theft by taking and has been sentenced to six months in jail and 10 years of probation. Reavis is also ordered to pay more than $2,000 in restitution.
